My name is Kabo. I was born and raised in South Africa.
To be honest with you, I didn’t grow up wanting to tutor mathematics. In fact, for quite some time, I hated mathematics. Despite my mother’s efforts to assist me, I didn’t understand it and thought I was a lost cause.
I never understood what my math teachers were saying hence I believed I was the problem. I’d think “Maybe I’m just stupid”. As a result, I developed math anxiety.
It wasn’t until I was 14 years of age when I was introduced to a math teacher who taught mathematics in a way I could understand. It is as though his lessons were tailor-made for me.
After a few of his classes, I finally started to understand what I’d been taught for years. I began to flourish. My grades increased but more importantly, my attitude towards mathematics and life in general changed completely.
After studying civil engineering straight out of high school, I began tutoring mathematics to young children all over the world. I enjoyed this work very much, however, I knew I could help more children and make an even bigger impact in the minds of children if I packaged my knowledge into an educational course. I, now, use all that I’ve learned in all my years of schooling and tutoring to create a course that teaches children how to study and understand mathematics!
